Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the level of scientific reasoning ability of high school students in class XI through the Creative Problem Solving Learning model on the respiratory system material. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. The sample was not chosen at random but with a specific purpose, namely by using a purposive sampling technique, totaling 35 students. The research instrument used in this study is the question of scientific reasoning ability, a modification of the questions developed by Lawson, namely LCTRS (Lawson Classroom Test Of Scientific Reasoning). The questions used are 10 multiple choice questions with 6 indicators. The results of the study show that gender does not affect a person's scientific reasoning ability. The average score shows the level of scientific reasoning of male students and female students, which has the same percentage, namely 71%, which means that it is included in the good category. The highest score of the level of scientific reasoning in male students is the Correlation Reasoning indicator with a total percentage of 84% female students also the highest score is found in the correlation indicator but the percentage is slightly different, lower than male students, namely 82%.

Key words: scientific reasoning, gender, creative problem solving
