Karakteristik Kuarsa Batupasir Mentulu Dan Kesebandingannya Terhadap Metapelit Mengkarang: Pendekatan Untuk Memahami Evolusi Tektonik Karbon-Permian

Abstract: Indonesia is a meeting area of three active tectonic plates which result in many geological processes that follow it one of themhas happened in the Mentulu Formation and the making form. The two formations formed in different environment at the same time during the Carbon-Permian period. The Mentulu Formation is formed in the galcio-marine environtment which is characterized by plutonic quartz fragment originating from provenants of continental crust. While the Mengkarang Formation was formed in a shalow marine, which is marked by the presense of flora fossils in the form of fern and brachiopode. Fossils who as he age of Permian it is estimated that during the Permian two formations are in two different environment. The two formations are in different height areas and separated by a low plain which looks like a basin . Based on chronostratigraphic datas’s during the carbon – permian compression tectonics occur which causes the Mengkarang Formation and the Mentulu Formation to be exposed on the surface to be more significant in the Mentulu Formation. Beside that, the absence of Pre– Tertiary aged rocks between the two heigh of the formation indicates that the process of magmatism during pra – Tarsies occurs randomly.
