Abstract
Abstract:The Vice President also has a separate position as a public official. Every citizen, citizen group, or community organization can communicate and have direct contact with the vice president. However, the authority of the vice president when the President is not absent is the vice president's authority as the president's companion. The vice president can freely act as companion to the president or carry out activities independently in his position as vice president. The problem formulation for this research is 1. How is the vice president's authority regulated in the Indonesian constitutional system based on the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia?, 2. How is the vice president's authority regulated in the future in the Indonesian constitutional system based on the State Constitution? Republic of Indonesia in 1945?. This type of research is normative juridical. The results of this research are that the vice president's authority based on law is to assist the president in carrying out his obligations, to replace the president until the end of his term if the president dies, resigns or is unable to carry out his obligations within the specified term of office. In this Constitution there is almost no authority of the vice president. The suggestion of this research is that there should be clarity of authority between the President and the Vice President, namely by making a law that regulates the duties and authority of the President and the Vice President clearly and in detail. In the future, it is hoped that the vice president's authority will clearly regulate the vice president's authority so that the vice president can carry out his authority as it should.
