Abstract

The criminal act of murder is a serious problem that can be faced by society, law enforcement and the government. Along with the development of the global era, many investigative methods are used to find evidence to determine suspects. In the cases discussed in this journal, investigators use the fingerprint method as evidence that is useful for finding perpetrators and finding out data from the bodies that have been found. The formulation that can be used in this study is how fingerprints function in the process of identifying criminal acts of murder and what are the obstacles in applying fingerprint identification in investigations of criminal acts of murder. In this study, the authors used empirical juridical research methods, which is a type of sociological research which can be said to be field research. The results of the research that has been carried out by the author are the process of taking fingerprints and the process of identifying fingerprints carried out by investigating officers. finger, during the identification process the officer also encountered several obstacles such as obstacles from residents around the crime scene or caused by bad weather.
