Author Guidelines

JUSS (Jurnal Sains dan Sistem Informasi) is published by the Information Systems Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Jambi. Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the following guidelines. Manuscripts that do not comply with the requirements may be returned to the authors before entering the peer-review process.

Before submitting a manuscript, authors are required to use the Official JUSS Article Template (.docx) .

1. General Requirements and Page Layout

  • File format: Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) format. PDF files are not accepted.
  • Page size: A4 (210 × 297 mm), single-column layout.
  • Margins: Top 22.5 mm; bottom 18–22.5 mm; left 25–30 mm; right 20–22.5 mm.
  • Manuscript length: 6–20 pages. The recommended length is 7–15 pages or approximately 3,500–7,500 words.
  • Header, footer, and page numbers: Do not include headers, footers, or page numbers. These elements will be added by the editorial team during the final editing process.
  • Hyperlinks and bookmarks: Email addresses and URLs should be presented as plain text, except for links required for submission or access to sources.

2. Article Title and Author Information

  • Article title: The title must be provided in both Indonesian and English and should contain no more than 20 words. Use Title Case and follow the font and formatting specifications provided in the JUSS template.
  • Author names: Write the authors' full names without academic degrees, professional titles, or organizational positions.
  • Affiliation: Provide the Study Program/Department, Faculty, University/Institution, and Country.
  • Email: The email address of the Corresponding Author must be clearly indicated.
  • OJS metadata: The names, affiliations, and email addresses of all authors must be entered into the OJS Metadata during the submission process.

3. Abstract and Keywords

  • Language: An abstract must be provided in both English (Abstract) and Indonesian (Abstrak).
  • Length: Each abstract should contain 160–250 words in a single paragraph, use single spacing, be fully justified, and contain no citations.
  • Content: The abstract should clearly and concisely present the research problem, objective, methodology, main findings, and conclusion.
  • Keywords: Provide 3–5 keywords, separated by commas or semicolons and arranged alphabetically.

4. Main Manuscript Structure

A separate literature review or theoretical framework section is not required. Relevant theories and previous studies should be integrated into the Introduction and Discussion sections.

  1. I. INTRODUCTION: Present the research background, problem statement, relevant previous studies, research objective, and research novelty.
  2. II. METHODS: Describe the research design, procedures, data, and testing or experimental scenarios.
  3. III. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Present the research findings and provide a comprehensive discussion supported by tables, figures, graphs, or other relevant visualizations.
  4. IV. CONCLUSION: Address the research objective based on the findings and discussion. The conclusion must be written as a single paragraph without bullet points or numbered lists.
  5. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS: Optional. This section may be used to acknowledge institutions, sponsors, or research funding agencies.
  6. CONFLICT OF INTEREST: Mandatory. Example: The authors declare no conflict of interest.
  7. REFERENCES: References must follow the IEEE citation style.

Heading hierarchy:

  • Level 1: Uppercase, bold, and numbered using Roman numerals. Example: I. INTRODUCTION.
  • Level 2: Bold italic, using uppercase or Title Case. Example: A. Page Layout.
  • Level 3: Indented, italic, and numbered using Arabic numerals. A maximum of three heading levels is recommended.
  • Paragraphs: Use the first-line indent specified in the JUSS article template.
  • Academic writing style: Use an impersonal academic style and avoid first-person expressions such as "I," "we," or "the authors."

5. Figures, Tables, and Equations

  • Figures: Figures should be centered and have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. Captions must be placed below the figures and numbered consecutively.
  • Tables: Tables must be created using the Microsoft Word table function and must not be inserted as images. Captions must be placed above the tables and numbered consecutively.
  • Equations: Use the Microsoft Word Equation Editor or MathType. Equation numbers should be placed on the right side and must be referred to in the main text.

6. Citations and References

  • Citation style: Use the IEEE citation style with references indicated by numbers in square brackets, such as [1], [2], and [3]–[6].
  • Reference management: Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
  • Number of references: A minimum of 15–20 references is recommended.
  • Primary sources: At least 80% of the references should be from primary sources, particularly scholarly journals or conference proceedings.
  • Recency: Authors should prioritize references published within the last 5–10 years.

7. Submission Checklist

  • The manuscript uses the Official JUSS Article Template (.docx).
  • The manuscript is submitted in .docx format, uses A4 paper, a single-column layout, and contains 6–20 pages.
  • The article title contains no more than 20 words and is provided in both Indonesian and English.
  • The abstract is provided in both languages and contains 160–250 words.
  • Author names are provided without academic degrees or professional titles.
  • All authors, affiliations, and email addresses have been entered into the OJS Metadata.
  • Figures have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, and tables are created using Microsoft Word.
  • The manuscript includes a Conclusion section and a Conflict of Interest statement.
  • References follow the IEEE Style and are managed using Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
