Abstrak

Fungsi distribusi Maxwell-Boltzmann mengkaji partikel klasik, yang relatif sederhana dibanding distribusi Fermi-Dirac dan Bose-Einsten, namun umumnya mahasiswa masih ditemukan kesulitan untuk mengaplikasikannya dakam persoalan nyata. Untuk mengatasi kesulitan belajar ini, pembelajaran fungsi distribusi Maxwell-Boltzmann seharusnya dapat dilakukan dengan pendekatan Hands-on yang sederhana, salah satunya viskositas bola jatuh. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menentukan Energi Aktivasi (Ea) dan Faktor Boltzmann (f) melalui percobaan hands-on viskositas bola jatuh pada dengan melibatkan analisis validitas dan reliabilitas, serta mengakomodir efek dinding dengan rasio bola-tabung yang cukup tinggi (λ=0,68). Percobaan dilakukan dengan menjatuhkan kelereng ke dalam fluida pada jarak tetap dengan variasi suhu antara 308 K - 333 K menggunakan fluida oli mesin SAE 10W-30. Waktu tempuh bola diukur menggunakan stopwatch untuk menentukan kecepatan terminal, kemudian nilai viskositas fluida dihitung menggunakan Hukum Stokes. Adapun bilangan Reynold memverifikasti sifat laminar fluida. Kompensasi efek dinding tabung dilakukan melalui koreksi Francis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai Ea (35,66±6,32 kJ/mol) dan Faktor Boltzmann mendekati nilai standar industri. Nilai Pearson’s r (0,97) dan R2 (0,94) menunjukkan reliabilitas metodologi yang tinggi. Hali ini mengkonfirmasi bahwa meskipun metode hands-on memiliki keterbatasan geometrik, rigiditas data tetap terjaga dengan analisis mekanika fluida yang tepat. Hasil penelitian ini mendukung metode viskositas bola jatuh menjadi alternatif pendekatan eksperimen sederhana untuk memvisualkan teori abstrak distribusi partikel klasik secara kuantitatif.
