Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice

Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice

Jurnal Prabung Seni: Pengkajian dan Penciptaan Seni Pertunjukan enforces strict ethical benchmarks across all stages of the publishing ecosystem. Every participating party—comprising editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher—is required to adhere to these foundational principles of academic integrity, which align with global standards of scholarly publishing.

Editorial Responsibilities

The Editorial Board operates with absolute independence and fairness, evaluating all submissions based purely on intellectual merit, novelty, validity, and scope compliance. These assessments remain entirely uninfluenced by the author's race, gender, nationality, religious beliefs, or institutional affiliation, free from external or governmental interference. The Editor-in-Chief retains ultimate authority over the journal’s content and scheduling.

To maintain transparency and trust, editors ensure absolute confidentiality regarding all submitted materials, disclosing details only to necessary editorial staff and reviewers. Furthermore, editorial members are prohibited from utilizing unpublished data for their own research without explicit written consent from the authors.

When making final publication decisions, the Editor-in-Chief relies on rigorous peer-review reports from at least two independent specialists, taking into account legal boundaries concerning plagiarism and copyright infringement. In cases of suspected misconduct, the editorial team, in collaboration with the publisher, is bound by COPE guidelines to investigate and implement necessary corrections or retractions, regardless of when the publication occurred.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Peer reviewers play a critical role in shaping editorial choices and assisting authors in elevating the quality of their work. Reviewers are expected to accept invitations only if they possess the relevant expertise and can meet the designated deadlines, prompting them to decline if a conflict of interest arises.

Every manuscript received for evaluation must be treated as a highly confidential asset, restricting any unauthorized discussion or sharing. Reviewers are expected to maintain high standards of objectivity, providing constructive and well-argued feedback while strictly avoiding personal criticism of the authors.

Additionally, reviewers are tasked with identifying un-cited relevant literature and must alert the editors to any substantial overlaps or similarities between the submission and other known publications. Any unique insights gained during the review process must be kept confidential and cannot be exploited for personal research advantages.

Author Responsibilities

Authors submitting to Jurnal Prabung Seni must present an accurate account of their original research, accompanied by an objective discussion of its significance, while ensuring that all underlying data are robust and reproducible. Fabricating data or presenting deliberately misleading statements constitutes severe unethical behavior. Upon request, authors must be prepared to provide raw research data for professional scrutiny, ensuring it remains accessible for at least ten years following publication.

Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited, and authors must guarantee that their manuscript has not been published elsewhere and is not concurrently under review by another journal.

Authorship must be restricted to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the study's conception, design, or execution, while other contributors should be recognized exclusively in the acknowledgments section with their written consent.

Authors are also required to declare any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest and properly cite all influencing works. If the study involves human participants, animals, or hazardous materials, it must comply with legal standards and institutional ethics approvals. Finally, authors are expected to participate actively in the peer-review process and must immediately report any significant errors discovered post-publication to facilitate swift corrections or retractions.

Publisher Responsibilities

As the hosting institution, the publisher works in tandem with the editorial team to safeguard publication ethics and prevent the dissemination of fraudulent or plagiarized research. In instances of proven scientific misconduct, the publisher assists in issuing formal errata, clarifications, or full retractions. Moreover, the publisher is deeply committed to the permanent preservation and continuous open access of all published scholarly works, collaborating with major archiving repositories to ensure long-term availability.
