Use of AI Statement

The editorial board of Jurnal Prabung Seni: Pengkajian dan Penciptaan Seni Pertunjukan acknowledges the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a supportive tool in scholarly writing and creative practices. However, to preserve the core values of academic integrity, transparency, and authentic authorship in both performance studies and artistic creation, the journal enforces a clear policy regarding the acceptable and unacceptable applications of these technologies.

Permitted Technical Support

Authors are permitted to utilize AI-driven applications exclusively for non-essential technical assistance and linguistic refinement. This acceptable usage encompasses language editing tasks such as rectifying grammatical errors, perfecting spelling, and polishing sentence syntax. It also extends to enhancing text clarity for descriptive passages, translating content between languages, and streamlining technical formatting like citation alignment and manuscript layouts. Additionally, AI may be used during the tentative, exploratory phases of brainstorming to conceptualize initial themes, provided it does not dictate the fundamental analytical framework or the creative trajectory of the study.

Prohibited Core Contributions

Conversely, the deployment of AI is strictly forbidden in areas that demand the distinct intellectual and creative identity of the researcher, critic, or artist. Authors must not use AI to generate core scientific or critical components, including the primary analysis, interpretation of data, art criticism, research methodologies, or conclusions. In creative submissions, generating full scripts, plots, or central artistic components—such as choreography or musical scores—via AI is prohibited, as these must remain original human creations. Furthermore, utilizing AI to manipulate or fabricate empirical data, invent falsified performance documentations, or compile unverified bibliographies constitutes severe ethical misconduct, as does submitting manuscripts that are predominantly AI-generated.

Responsibility and Disclosure Protocols

Under no circumstances can an AI tool be designated as an author or co-author, as it cannot assume legal or ethical accountability for the work. The human authors listed on the manuscript retain absolute responsibility for the precision, authenticity, and overarching scholarly integrity of the submission, meaning all AI-assisted sections must be thoroughly vetted and approved by them. While basic grammar checks do not require formal reporting, any advanced reliance on AI tools must be transparently disclosed within the manuscript's ethical statement. Jurnal Prabung Seni employs advanced detection mechanisms to monitor compliance, and any undisclosed or unethical reliance on AI will lead to immediate manuscript rejection, extensive revision demands, or formal ethical investigations.
