Author Guidelines
These guidelines provide authors with the necessary information to prepare and submit manuscripts to MEDIC: Medical Dedication. Authors are required to read these instructions carefully and adhere to them precisely to ensure a smooth review process. It is mandatory to use the provided journal template for all submissions. To make it easier for you, we have created a template that you can download here.
General Manuscript Requirements
- Article Length: The maximum length for any manuscript is 8 (eight) pages.
- File Format: Manuscripts should be prepared using Microsoft Word (version 2010 or earlier).
- Page Layout:
The entire text should be presented in a single-column format. Page margins must be set as follows:
Top: 1.5 cm
Bottom: 1.5 cm
Left: 2 cm
Right: 2 cm
Manuscript Structure and Formatting
Your manuscript must be structured in the following order, with each section formatted as described below.
- Title and Author Information
- Manuscript Title: The title must be typed in Arial 14pt font, all capital letters, bold, single-spaced, and with justified alignment.
- Subtitle: If a subtitle is included, it should be in Arial 12pt font, all capital letters, and bold.
- Author Names: List the full names of all authors, which must not be abbreviated. Format names in Arial 10pt, bold, and centered.
- Author Affiliations: For each author, provide the Faculty/institution name, University name, Province, and Country.
- Corresponding Author: Clearly provide the email address for the corresponding author.
- Abstract and Keywords
Manuscripts must include abstracts and keywords in both English and Indonesian.
- English Abstract:
The heading "ABSTRACT" should be in Arial 10pt, bold. The abstract text must be a maximum of 200 words. It should detail the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of the work. The text must be formatted in Arial 9pt, Italic. - English Keywords:
Provide a maximum of 5 keywords. Format them in Arial 9pt, single spacing, and Italic. - Indonesian Abstract (Abstrak):
The heading "ABSTRAK" should be in Arial 10pt, bold. The abstract text (Teks Abstrak) must not exceed 200 words. It should also cover the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. The text must be formatted in Arial 9pt, Italic (Miring). - Indonesian Keywords (Kata kunci):
Provide a maximum of 5 keywords. Format them in Arial 9pt, single spacing, and Italic (Miring).
- Main Body
- General Formatting: The main body text must be typed in Arial 10pt font and single-spaced.
- Section Headings: All main section headings (e.g., INTRODUCTION, METHODS) must be in Arial 10pt, bold, and all capital letters.
- INTRODUCTION: This section should provide a comprehensive background of the community service activity, clearly outlining the issues, the objectives, and the urgency of the project.
- METHODS:
Describe the duration and phases of the activity. Justify the choice of location. Detail the methods used, the implementing team, any involved partners, and the participants. If statistical methods or qualitative data collection techniques were used, they must be specified and explained in detail. - RESULTS AND DISCUSSION:
Present the outcomes of the community service. These can be techno-sociocultural products like methods, blueprints, prototypes, systems, or policies. Non-product outcomes such as changes in knowledge, attitudes, or skills are also appropriate to include. It is recommended to display a simple statistical analysis related to the activity's results. The discussion should analyze the results and explain any supporting or hindering factors encountered. Authors are encouraged to compare their results with previous studies to enrich the discussion. - CONCLUSION: The conclusion should clearly highlight the key findings from the community service activities.
- Supplementary Documentation
- Appendices may be used for supplementary materials such as printed/digital documents, videos, images, or audio recordings.
- Each multimedia item must have a caption with numbering, placed at the bottom center.
- Authors must explain how multimedia content is referenced within the main text.
- Acknowledgements
- The "ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS" section heading should be in Arial 10pt, bold.
- Acknowledgements should be directed to individuals or institutions that were directly involved in or provided funding for the community service.
- The text should be in Arial 10pt, normal font.
Table and Figures
- Tables:
Tables should only be used when essential to support the data. All tables must be referenced in the text by their number (e.g., "Table 1"). Avoid phrases like "the table above". Table numbering and titles are placed above the table. Text within tables should be Arial 9pt with single spacing. Use a two-column format for smaller tables and a single-column format for very large tables. - Figures:
The provided template includes an example of a figure with a caption below it. Authors should provide captions with numbering at the bottom center of each figure or multimedia item.
References
- Citation Style: All citations and references must follow the Vancouver style. The use of citation management software like Mendeley is recommended.
- Quantity and Recency: A minimum of 25 references is required. The majority of these should be from articles published within the last 10 years. Foundational or seminal works may be excepted if they remain relevant.
- Formatting:
The "REFERENCES" heading must be in Arial 10pt, bold. The reference list should be formatted in Arial 9pt, single-spaced. A 6-point spacing should be applied after each reference entry.
