Utilizing a descriptive quantitative method, the research surveyed geography teachers and high school students in grades X, XI, and XII across 45 schools, comprising 17 public and 28 private institutions. A proportional random sampling technique selected 16 schools, with 16 teachers and 96 students chosen through purposive sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires, interviews, and observations, and analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. Results revealed that the available learning media, primarily maps, atlases, and globes, were classified as insufficient in quantity, despite being in good condition. The utilization of media was in a favorable category, with a media variation of 68.75 percent. Student responses regarding media usage were high, and opportunities for engagement were also positive. However, teachers faced significant challenges, with 68.75 percent reporting difficulties related to limited media availability, manpower, costs, and time. Teachers' efforts to address these challenges were classified as moderate (87.50 percent), including organizing independent media, utilizing donations, and participating in training sessions and teacher meetings.
2024-10-07T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2024 supriyati supriyati https://online-journal.unja.ac.id/pedagogi/article/view/37486 Development of Learning Video Media in Biology Subjects 2024-10-07T00:10:05+07:00 Nur Asia nrassia029@gmai.com Johanis Kinda jhnskindajh7@gmail.com Joseph Edwards josedwrdss091@gmail.com
The purpose of this study is to produce valid and practical learning video media for use in the learning process. This research is a development research used to produce a product in the form of learning video media. The stages in this development include: planning stage, design stage, and development stage. The subjects in this study were 2 validators consisting of learning media experts and content or learning media material experts, 31 grade XI science students and 1 Biology subject teacher. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis techniques used were Qualitative Descriptive Analysis, and Descriptive Static Analysis. Research on this offers novelty in the form of more visual and interactive learning media, allowing students to understand complex biological concepts through interesting graphical and animated representations. In addition, these learning videos provide flexibility for students to learn independently and repeatedly, thus improving conceptual understanding and accommodating various learning styles.
2024-10-07T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Nur Asia, Johanis Kinda, Joseph Edwards https://online-journal.unja.ac.id/pedagogi/article/view/37485 Development of Student Worksheets Based on a Scientific Approach to Colloidal System Material 2024-10-06T22:29:03+07:00 Nurlina Nurlina nrlnurlina1981@gmail.com Zeynep Ozsen zynpoznn76@gmail.com Lindiwe Jiyane lndwjiyanee091@gmail.com
The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility of developing student worksheets based on a scientific approach, student responses and teacher responses to the developed student worksheets. The type of research used was research and development with a 4D model. The instruments used in this study were validation sheets and response questionnaires. Before the field trial was conducted, the student worksheets were validated by a team of experts to determine the shortcomings of the student worksheets, then revised and tested. The results showed that the average percentage obtained from the media expert validator was 80.66%, material experts 85.33%, and language experts 82.66%, with an average percentage of 82.88%, this indicates that the student worksheets can be used with feasible criteria. The percentage obtained from the results of student responses was 34% very interested, 55% interested, and 11% less interested. The percentage of teacher response results was 25% very interested, 65% interested, and 10% less interested, this shows that the student worksheets developed can be used in State Islamic High School 5, Aceh Besar. Research on the development of student worksheets based on a scientific approach to colloidal system material offers innovation in more interactive learning, encourages conceptual understanding through exploration and experimentation, and improves students' critical thinking skills.
2024-10-07T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Nurlina Nurlina, Zeynep Ozsen, Lindiwe Jiyane https://online-journal.unja.ac.id/pedagogi/article/view/37487 Comparison of the Effect of Using Virtual Laboratory Based on PhET Simulation and Real Laboratory in Improving Mastery of Electronic Concepts of Physics Education Students 2024-10-07T04:44:15+07:00 Annisa Fitriani anisafit@gmail.com
This study aimed to compare the mastery of electronic concepts among physics education students using a constructivist virtual laboratory (PhET Simulation) and a real constructivist laboratory. The importance of this research lies in the potential of virtual laboratories as an alternative to physical ones, especially when resources are limited. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a matching-only posttest-only control group. The sample consisted of 68 physics education students from UIN Alauddin Makassar, divided into two groups: one using PhET Simulation (34 students) and the other using real laboratories (34 students). Data were collected through multiple-choice tests designed to measure concept mastery, analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential tests such as t-tests. The results showed no significant difference in concept mastery between students using PhET Simulation and those using real laboratories (t =-0.167, p= 0.868). Both methods were equally effective in enhancing students’ understanding of electronics. The novelty of this study lies in directly comparing the two laboratory approaches within a constructivist framework. This finding suggests that virtual laboratories can serve as a viable alternative to real laboratories in supporting concept mastery, offering flexibility and resource efficiency. The implications of the study are particularly relevant for educational institutions with limited access to physical laboratories, as PhET Simulation provides a cost-effective solution without compromising learning outcomes.
2024-10-07T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Annisa Fitriani https://online-journal.unja.ac.id/pedagogi/article/view/37489 Optimizing Science Process Skills Through the Use of Simple Steam Power Plant Models in Middle School Physics Education 2024-10-07T08:49:12+07:00 Johari Johari johari1@gmail.com
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using a simple steam power plant prop in improving the science process skills of eighth grade students at Pesantren Guppi Samata Junior High School. The importance of this study lies in the need for innovative teaching methods that can improve students' engagement and understanding in science education, especially considering the limitations of traditional laboratory resources. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was used, involving purposive sampling of two groups: an experimental group that used a simple steam power plant prop and a control group that did not use the prop. Data were collected through a structured multiple-choice test that assessed various aspects of science process skills and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, and independent t-tests. The findings showed that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group in the posttest (p = 0.000), indicating that the simple steam power plant prop effectively facilitates better understanding of scientific concepts through hands-on learning. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on the use of simple and accessible teaching props to improve practical skills in science education. The results of this study suggest that incorporating these tools into teaching can improve educational outcomes, and offer a valuable resource for educators facing limited laboratory facilities.
2024-10-07T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Johari Johari
