The activities involved identifying gender, age, body mass index (BMI), and fasting blood glucose levels. 119 respondents comprised 31.1 % males and 68.9 % females aged 19-20. The BMI results showed 5.7% underweight, 13.1% slightly underweight, 61.5% average weight, 5.7% overweight, and 11.5% obese. Additionally, fasting blood glucose levels were recorded, with 99.2 % of respondents having levels below 125 mg/dL and 0.8 % above 125 mg/dL. This activity shows that most adolescents in Jambi City who have been screened have a Body Mass Index (BMI) and Fasting Blood Glucose Levels in the normal category. This indicates adolescents in Jambi have a low risk of T2DM. However, there are 0.8% of adolescents with fasting blood glucose levels above 125 mg/dl and 17.2% (non-ideal body mass), indicating a risk of prediabetes and obesity as the main factors in the development of T2DM. The findings highlight the importance of early screening and education to prevent the increasing incidence of T2DM in adolescents.

Keywords: fasting blood glucose, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, adolescents

2024-10-31T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2024 Medical Dedication (medic) : Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat FKIK UNJAhttps://online-journal.unja.ac.id/medic/article/view/37883PROFIL METABOLISME LIPID SIRKULASI SEBAGAI UPAYA DETEKSI DINI SINDROMA METABOLIK PADA WANITA USIA PRODUKTIF DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS PAKUAN BARU2024-10-21T09:29:46+07:00Citra Maharanicitra_maharani@unja.ac.idRina Nofri Eniscitra_maharani@unja.ac.idHerlambang Herlambangcitra_maharani@unja.ac.idAhmad Syauqycitra_maharani@unja.ac.idAnggelia Puspasaricitra_maharani@unja.ac.idNyimas Natasha Ayu Shafiracitra_maharani@unja.ac.idSusan Tarawifacitra_maharani@unja.ac.idRita Halimcitra_maharani@unja.ac.id
ABSTRACT

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions that increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, and stroke. Among the components of dyslipidemia, triglyceride levels and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) are important indicators in assessing cardiovascular disease risk, making these examinations useful for screening risk factors associated with metabolic syndrome. However, healthcare facilities are often unable to conduct these assessments independently, necessitating a referral system to more comprehensive healthcare services. Our community service team aims to facilitate this by conducting lipid profile examinations at Puskesmas Pakuan Baru as an early detection effort for metabolic syndrome in women of reproductive age. The activities carried out included lipid profile testing, blood pressure measurement, and education regarding metabolic syndrome. The results from 26 participants indicated that 23.07% had elevated triglyceride levels, 73.08% had low HDL levels, and 19.33% were hypertensive. Based on these findings, women of reproductive age already exhibit risk factors for metabolic syndrome, suggesting that lipid profile assessments should be incorporated into routine screening programs to prevent the onset of metabolic syndrome.

ABSTRAK

Sindroma metabolik merupakan kumpulan kondisi yang meningkatkan risiko penyakit kardiovaskular, diabetes mellitus dan stroke. One effective strategy for diabetes Melitus prevention is through community-based education and screening initiatives. This community service activity aimed to provide free facilitation for community members to learn about diabetes Melitus, undergo health checks specifically for random blood glucose levels, then consult with a physician regarding their examination results. The community service activity was conducted at the Letrysa Primary Clinic and began with a pre-test, followed by an educational and counseling session led by an internal medicine specialist. This was then followed by a post-test and screenings of participants' random blood glucose levels and blood pressure. Additionally, participants received free consultations with the internal medicine specialist based on their screening outcomes. The examination results indicated that out of 35 participants, three individuals had abnormal random blood glucose levels. An analysis of pre-test and post-test scores demonstrated that the education and counseling sessions significantly improved participants' understanding and knowledge of diabetes Melitus. Based on these findings, it is recommended that this program be conducted routinely within communities to help prevent Diabetes Melitus.

2024-10-31T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2024 Medical Dedication (medic) : Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat FKIK UNJAhttps://online-journal.unja.ac.id/medic/article/view/37644PENINGKATAN PENGETAHUAN MASYARAKAT MENGENAI HIPERTENSI DI PUSKESMAS OLAK KEMANG, DANAU TELUK KOTA JAMBI2024-10-14T12:16:49+07:00Attiya Istariniattiyaistarini@unja.ac.idLipinwatilipinwati_fkik@unja.ac.idHasna Dewilipinwati_fkik@unja.ac.idPutri Sari Wulandarilipinwati_fkik@unja.ac.idSamsirun Halimlipinwati_fkik@unja.ac.idAfifah Amatullahlipinwati_fkik@unja.ac.idHafizahlipinwati_fkik@unja.ac.idDenok Tri Hardiningsihlipinwati_fkik@unja.ac.id
Hypertension significantly increases the risk of heart, brain and kidney diseases, and is one of the top causes of death and disease throughout the world. One of the main challenges in managing HIV/AIDS is adherence to antiretroviral (ARV) therapy among ODHIV. Low adherence can lead to drug resistance, decreased quality of life, and increased risk of virus transmission. Factors influencing ARV adherence include stigma, discrimination, and the knowledge of ODHIV about the therapy. Education was conducted through group counseling, starting with a pre-test to assess participants' knowledge about HIV treatment. After the pre-test, a counseling session on "The Importance of ARV Adherence for People Living with HIV" was held, concluding with a post-test. A total of 27 participants took part in this activity, with the majority being male (59%) and the largest age group being 20-30 years (41%).
