Use of AI Statement
The editorial board of Jurnal Cerano Seni recognizes the benefit of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in supporting academic and creative processes. To maintain the integrity, transparency, and originality of manuscripts (both art critique/study and artistic creation), the following policy governs the permitted and prohibited use of AI.
1. Permitted Uses of AI Tools
Authors are allowed to use AI-based tools (e.g., Grammarly, DeepL, or certain AI style transfer tools) only for non-core creative or non-fundamental analytical supporting purposes:
-
Language Editing: Correcting grammar, spelling, and syntax in the manuscript text.
-
Text Clarity Enhancement: Re-analyzing and refining the clarity of descriptive or narrative text (excluding the results of critical analysis).
-
Translation: Translating text from one language to another.
-
Technical Support: Assisting with the formatting of references, citations, or writing layout.
-
Initial Idea Exploration: Using AI for brainstorming initial themes or concepts, but not for generating the entire analytical framework or creative flow.
2. Strictly Prohibited Uses of AI Tools
The use of AI is strictly prohibited for activities that replace the essential role of the author as a researcher, critic, or creator:
-
Generation of Core Scientific/Critical Content: Producing the fundamental parts of analysis, interpretation, art criticism, study methodology, or conclusions.
-
Core Creative Production: Generating the entire concept, plot, performance script, or primary artistic elements (e.g., main music or choreography) which should be the original output of the author/creator.
-
Data/Work Manipulation: Creating or manipulating research data (e.g., fabricated interview results) or falsifying documentation of performance art works (photos/videos).
-
Reference Generation: Creating a bibliography or citations without manual verification of the original sources.
-
Total Manuscript Submission: Submitting a manuscript that is largely or entirely generated by AI without critical review and full disclosure by the author(s).
3. Authorship and Responsibility
-
AI is not an Author. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.
-
Full Responsibility: The listed authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and scholarly/creative integrity of the entire manuscript, including all AI-assisted content. All AI-generated content must be reviewed, edited, and approved by the authors.
-
Mandatory Disclosure: Any use of AI beyond basic language correction must be disclosed in detail in the Ethical/Disclosure section of the manuscript.
4. Screening and Ethics Compliance
Jurnal Cerano Seni reserves the right to screen manuscripts using AI-detection tools and check for plagiarism. Failure to disclose AI use, or evidence of unethical AI use, may result in: manuscript rejection, a request for extensive revision, or further investigation in accordance with publication ethics.
