Implementation of the Habit of Performing Zuhur Prayer in Congregation as a Form of School Culture for the Formation of Disciplined Character of Students at SDN Ledug Kembaran Banyumas

Abstrak

This research was motivated by the importance of developing students’ disciplinary character through a religious school culture, particularly through the habituation of congregational Dhuhr prayer in elementary schools. Based on preliminary observations at SDN Ledug Kembaran Banyumas, the implementation of congregational Dhuhr prayer had not been fully optimal. The problems found included students’ low discipline in arriving on time for prayer activities, lack of orderliness during prayer, inconsistency in participating in congregational prayer activities, and limited teacher supervision. This study aimed to analyze the formation of students’ disciplinary character through the habituation of congregational Dhuhr prayer, the role of school culture in supporting the habituation, and the challenges faced in its implementation. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, sixth-grade teachers, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and sixth-grade students. Data analysis applied the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the habituation of congregational Dhuhr prayer was able to develop students’ disciplinary, responsible, orderly, and religious character. Religious school culture played an important role through teacher role modeling, supervision, and structured religious activities. The challenges included limited worship facilities, time management, and low awareness among some students.
