Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted various
aspects of society, including the economic sector. The global
economy suffered due to decreased public participation, affecting
all countries, including ASEAN members. To enhance resilience
and recovery from global uncertainties, promoting economic and
financial inclusion is crucial. This study aims to examine the
implementation of QR Code payments in the economic
development of five ASEAN countries post-COVID-19. This
qualitative research uses literature review to explore the role of
QR Code in promoting economic recovery in Indonesia, Malaysia,
Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore. Data is collected from
academic journals, government reports, and international
organization publications, and analyzed through content analysis
to identify themes and patterns related to QR Code usage and
economic development. The findings indicate that QR Code
payments have facilitated efficient transactions, boosted
investments, maintained economic stability, and positively
impacted the tourism and SME sectors in these countries. The
implementation of the Local Currency Settlement Framework
(LCSF) has also reduced dependency on the US dollar, promoting
local currency usage in trade and investment. The use of QR Code
payments is essential for accelerating economic development and
recovery in ASEAN countries post-pandemic, fostering a digital
payment ecosystem that enhances financial inclusion and
economic stability.
