Abstract

ABSTRACT
This study to analiyze land-use change by the Reclamation on tidal swamp area in delta Berbak Jambi. This study conducted in the reclamated delta Berbak Jambi by series data initially 1973, untill 2008. Initially land-use reclamation noted delta Berbak survey report 1973 and land-use 1989, 1998 and 2008 analyzed from Landsat data and farmer. Landsat data proceed using image processing program ENVI by suvervised classification and used Tasseled cap transformation. Spatial analyzed by Geographycal Information System (GIS) ArcView 3.2 / ArcGis Software. This study showed that there are the transtation step of land-use types and their probabilities of occurance depand on government policy, land and hydrology characteristics and plant economical value. Initially land-use types are forest, rice field and shrub. The fisrt ten-year reclamation land-use types developed into rice field, mixed farming, coconut plantation, forest and shrub. Large changed of forest into rice field strongly influenced by government policy. After 20-year reclamation, land-use types changed forest and rice field decrease but coconut and mixed farming increase caused land and hydrology changed. After 30 years reclamation appear the new land-use types are rubber and oil palm plantation due to the good economically value and more suitable for exist land characteristics
