Cadangan Karbon pada Lahan Gambut Bekas Terbakar di Desa Gambut Jaya Kecamatan Sungai Gelam Kabupaten Muaro Jambi Provinsi Jambi

Lahan gambut merupakan salah satu sumberdaya alam yang mempunyai fungsi hidrologi dan fungsi lingkungan yang penting bagi kehidupan seluruh mahluk hidup. Perubahan penggunaan lahan dari lahan gambut alami menjadi lahan pertanian yang dilakukan secara tidak tepat mengakibatkan terganggunya ekosistem lahan gambut. Kesalahan pengelolaan mengakibatkan terjadinya kebakaran lahan pada musim kemarau. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan kandungan karbon pada lahan gambut bekas terbakar tahun 2015 dan lahan gambut bekas terbakar tahun 2015 yang terbakar kembali pada tahun 2018. Penelitian berlangsung dari bulan Desember 2019 sampai dengan bulan Maret 2020. Penelitian dilakukan di lahan gambut seluas lebih kurang 249,6 ha, yang terbagi atas lahan terbakar tahun 2015 seluas 48 ha dan lahan gambut yang terbakar lagi pada tahun 2018 seluas 201,6 ha. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode survei pada tingkat semi detail. Pengambilan sampel atau titik pengamatan dibuat tegak lurus terhadap saluran drainase. Data yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini adalah kedalaman gambut (pengukuran langsung di lapangan), tingkat kematangan gambut (metode Humifikasi Von Post), berat volume (metode box sample) dan kandungan C-organik (metode loss on ignition) Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kebakaran lahan mengakibatkan menurunnya cadangan karbon pada lahan gambut. Jumlah cadangan karbon pada lahan yang terbakar hanya pada tahun 2015 sebanyak 920,82 ton ha-1 m-1 dan pada lahan yang-1 -1 terbakar pada tahun 2015 dan terbakar kembali pada tahun 2018 sebanyak 849,68 ton ha m .
